Under 16 Umbro Cup August 2008
Squad of 20 players took part. Opening game Friday evening - Markets Utd 1 Confey 1 - game dominated by Confey with a stunning goal from Daniel Dumitru. Confey created numerous chances and were denied a goal by a poor refereeing decision when the ball had clearly crossed the line. Markets took the lead with their only attempt on goal a long range shot that dipped into the bottom corner.Should have been a comfortable win. Saturday afternoon 2.00p pm having made numerous changes in the starting line up we lost 2-0 to Manortown FC from the DDSL Premier League - Despite having parity of possession and enduring a downpour a hard fought game was decided on two mistakes. Included excellent double save from Keeper Aidan Mc Donnell. Saturday 4.00 pm drew 0 to 0 with W.F.T.A. from the DDSL Premier League. Again a game were Confey dominated in all departments. Very unlucky not to win. Great chances for Steven Nicholas and Conor Mc Loughlin. Staring performance in mid field from new signing Rudi Eloma. Sunday 2.00pm Won 2-1 against Kinsealy Boys from the North Dublin Premier League - Goals from Collie May - header from an excellent free by Jason O Connor and Stephen Galavan finish from close range. This was an excellent pre season event with four competitive games. Team Management learned a lot about the current squad.
